Over my time in high school, I noticed that much of Prospect's postsecondary counseling was focused on college-bound students and little else; the topics of trades, the military and gap years were all quite literally footnotes in guidance counselors' presentations. Because of this, I had been planning a story for the better part of a year in order to shine more light on these opportunities as well as point out the need for change, one that I am immensely proud of in retrospect because of how well it highlights these less popular options in a balanced and constructive way.
